Lens Materials
Explore a range of options in our lens materials, including thicker lenses to thinner, lightweight materials.
- Plastic (CR-39)
- Polycarbonate
- Trivex
- High-Index
Plastic, being an economical lens material, offers decent optical clarity for mild prescriptions and is suitable for tinting. However, it is thicker, heavier, lacks impact resistance, and doesn't provide UV protection. Some individuals opt for plastic lenses as a backup or spare pair of glasses. We will usually not recommend this type of material for safety reasons.
Polycarbonate lenses are preferred over plastic due to their thinner and lighter nature. They offer UV protection and are 10 times more resistant to impact than plastic, ensuring durability and safety, especially for those with an active lifestyle. Additionally, they work well with rimless drill-mount frames.
Trivex stands out as the preferred choice for mild to moderate prescriptions, offering the benefits of both plastic and polycarbonate lenses without their drawbacks. This premium lens material ensures excellent optical clarity, UV protection, tinting options, impact resistance, and is especially well-suited for rimless drill-mount frames due to its thin and lightweight properties.
For strong prescriptions, high index is the top choice. This premium material ensures the thinnest and lightest lenses. However, they are dense and reflect more light, requiring a high-quality anti-reflective coating.
Lens Designs
Our lens designs prioritize the health of your eyes while considering any other distinctive vision requirements you may have.
- Aspheric
- Anti-Fatigue
- Bifocal
- Progressive
Digital Aspheric Lenses, also known as Digital Lenses, are a lens design ideal for stronger prescriptions or higher astigmatism prescriptions. This fabrication technique can be utilized for plastic, polycarbonate, trivex, or high-index lenses. Customized to a patient's measurements with multiple optimization points, digital lenses ensure the clearest and sharpest vision from edge to edge. This design results in a flatter surface, minimizing edge distortion and reducing what some patients might perceive as a "fishbowl effect.
On average, Americans devote 7 hours daily to screen time, a demand our eyes weren't originally built for. This extensive device use often leads to headaches and eye strain. Thankfully, anti-fatigue lenses offer a power boost to alleviate tired eyes.
Whether you're a student, a young professional, or not quite ready for progressives, there's an ideal anti-fatigue lens for you. Simply inquire with your doctor for more information. Blinc Eye Care exclusively uses Essilor’s EyeZen lenses for our in-house anti-fatigue solution.
Bifocal sunglasses incorporate two fixed focal lengths in their lens design, typically catering to distance and near vision. However, these lenses do not accommodate mid-length viewing, such as computer use.
Typically, when individuals enter their 40s, they experience a decline in the ability to focus on objects from close to far, a condition known as presbyopia. Progressive lenses offer an effective solution by providing seamless vision transitions from distance to mid-range to near. While traditional progressives may have a clear center corridor but peripheral distortion, Varilux XR Progressives utilize advanced technology to minimize distortion, ensuring a comfortable, clear, and expansive field of vision.
Lens Treatments
Lens treatments aid in shielding your eyes from glare and UV rays, enhancing your vision for various activities.
- Anti Reflective Coating
- Polarized Lenses
- Transition Lenses
- Blue Light Coating
Crizal Anti-Reflective Coating stands out for its superior reduction in reflections, heightened UV protection, and effective anti-glare performance, especially against car headlights during nighttime. Additionally, it boasts exceptional durability and resistance to scratches. The coating is highly hydrophobic, facilitating the repulsion of water and smudges, making cleaning a breeze.
Polarized lenses restrict the angles of reflections that can pass through, minimizing glare and providing enhanced comfort for your eyes during various activities. This lens treatment is particularly beneficial for pursuits like fishing, golfing, or any outdoor activity that demands sharp and clear vision.
Photosensitive or photochromic lenses react to light, darkening when exposed to UV rays, offering the convenience and UV protection of sunglasses in your regular glasses. An additional benefit is their ability to filter out harmful blue light both indoors and outdoors.
Blue Light Coating is a cutting-edge solution designed to shield your eyes from harmful blue light emitted by digital screens. Crafted with advanced technology, it reduces glare and reflections, enhancing visual clarity and comfort during extended screen time. Protect your eyes and enjoy clearer vision with Blue Light Coating.
